Olivia Mannering, Social Worker, PGDipSW

With over a decade of experience supporting adults, children and families through complex challenges, Olivia provides expert guidance in safeguarding, independent social work services, leading multidisciplinary teams across sectors including adult services, children’s services, mental health, and child protection.

Olivia is able to provide expert social work support that improves outcomes for adults, children and families, the focus always remains on providing high-quality person-centered care and support.

Olivia graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2012 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work, she spent seven years as senior social worker in a children’s disability team supporting children with complex and severe disabilities. Olivia has managed a residential setting for adolescents that are experiencing mental health crisis and significant trauma. She managed teams and most recently have been chairing child protection conferences and independently reviewing and quality assuring the care plans for children that are looked after by local authorities.

As a safeguarding expert Olivia continues to support statutory safeguarding teams with risk management and decision making, highlighting thematic and poor practice using a model of high support, high challenge.

Olivia has worked with brain injured adults with complex needs to ensure that the appropriate services are working together to improve outcomes. Looking at supporting and mobilising family systems to function following trauma. She has also supported adults facing addiction and homelessness.

Olivia works with adults and children that have complex injuries and multiple needs, she leads the multi-disciplinary team in supporting adults, children and young people, chairing and managing complex and challenging meetings, ensuring that they focus on desired outcomes and that they remain forward focused. Olivia has in depth knowledge of the legislation relating to adult and children’s social care and human rights.

She has chaired best interest’s meeting and completed Mental Capacity assessments for children transitioning to adult social care. Olivia has supported with ICB applications and ensuring that the appropriate care packages are in place.

Olivia is passionate about listening to adults and children, ensuring that their voices are heard, priding herself in being the person that makes sure that their needs are being met and that they are receiving an exceptional service from the professionals that are providing their care, focusing on enhancing their quality of life.
